The Pìcciolo Golf Club
Sicily’s first ever 18-hole golf course! On the slopes of Mount Etna, in an unrivalled location, the Il Picciolo Golf Club course is the first 18-hole, 72-par course built in Sicily.
Developed in 1989 by the renowned architect Luigi Rota Caremoli, this superb course with holes fashioned from the characteristic lava stone of Mount Etna, covers 5,870 metres, with a driving range, putting and pitching green.

Pioneers in Sicily
The history
The Club was established in 1989 with the first golf course in Sicily created by the renowned architect Luigi Rota Caremoli, the only architect in Italy to be a member of the Association of British Golf Course Architects.
Luigi Rota Caremoli made the most of the 44 hectares of hilly terrain, designing technical obstacles to great effect, to the extent that the course appears entirely natural.
The course has had the honour of hosting 5 open championships: for three consecutive years, from 1995 to 1997, it hosted the Sicilian Ladies Italian Open; in 2010 it hosted a stage of the European Senior Open and in 2011 the Italian stage of the Sicilian Ladies Italian Open.
The Coach
Giuseppe Marra
Giuseppe Marra, born in 1982 and graduated in Biology, has been Head Pro at I Monasteri since 2012 and from September 2019 at Il Picciolo Golf Club. An instructor who for years, with passion and enthusiasm, has been bringing all his experience to golf clubs.
Regional Coach for Calabria and Sicily, he is the founder of the Mediterranea Golf Academy and specialized in the analysis of short game at the Harold Swash School Putting School of Excellence.
He is also a certified instructor for Trackman University, AimPoint, Swing Catalyst and US Kids Golf.
